The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved* The Secretary presented the following communication from Architect Bowd: Honorable State Board of Agriculture, East Lansing, Michigan* Gentlemen: •Jan* 18, 1922* : : : - Concerning addition to Botany Building* As per your request, I have examined the Botanical Laboratory building and the East wing, and have taken up the arrangement of rooms with '.-.'• Dr.*-Besaey* I make my report as follows: These changes providing for a third story can be done* The in- tention is to extend the main walls, taking off the old roof and providing a new flat roof with galvanized cornice* The walls are strong enough to do this and I have provided extra steel girders to carry the load of the extra floor* not include the laboratory equipment* The estimated cost of these changes is about #20,800* This does Respectfully submitted, (Signed) E* A* Bowd, Architect* On motion of Mr* Woodman, the foregoing report was accepted and filed for consideration when President elect Friday and the State Board of Agriculture shall have formulated a general institutional building policy* On motion of Mr* Woodman, the new boiler house was accepted and the Secretary authorized to pay the balance due on the contract* Boiler Hs accepted* On motion of Mr* Doelle, the recommendations contained in the following communication from Director Baldwin, were approved: •Jan* 10, 1922. S* Shaw, East Lansing, Michigan* Dear Dean Shaw:- t? £ % • ?•t I f 1 I * Extension appointment made* The following items are submitted for consideration by the Board: Since the resignation of Miss Hutty, Girls Club work has been taken care of by temporary appointments* We wish now to ask for the pernianent appointment of Miss Ruth M* Cresswell who has been in charge of Girls Clubs in the State of Washington* The appointment should be made effective Feb- ruary 1st at #2500 per year* Miss Potts wishes to be released about March 1st and will offer her resignation later. In order to be prepared to continue the work at that time we wish to transfer Miss Helen Simonson, present Home Demonstration Agent for Dickinson, to the position of District Demonstration Agent with headquarters at Marquette to serve counties not having agents* This transfer should be effect- ive January 15th at f2000 per year* Dickinson county will not continue Home Demonstration work at the present time* I i The cooperative agreement between the College and Federal Bureau of Markets through which Mr* Tennant has received $1200 per year has been ter- minated effective January 1st. This rate should be added to the present salary on Smith-Lever funds.
