Brody, Doelle, McPhersoh, Watkins and Woodman* The minutes of the previous meeting were read, and approved* Mr* F# L. Granger, representing the Michigan Horticultural Society, appeared before the Board and discussed the h o r t i c u l t u r al work in the south western part of the S t a t e, and requested the reorganization and strengthening of the work of the Horticultural Department. On motion of Mr* Doelle , a committee of two, c o n s i s t i ng of Messrs* Doelle and Brody, was appointed to act with president e l e ct Friday in the reorganization of h o r t i c u l t u r al work at the College* On motion of Mr* watkins, the Board commended Mr.Granger for appear ing at t h is time and giving the information in regard to h o r t i c u l t u r al work in I Committee i apptd* to ; a s s i st in j reorgani— 1 zing hort I i c u l t u r al ! work* the State. On motion of Mr* Woodman, the committee on the reorganization of h o r t i c u l t u r al work, was empowered to employ any person of persons that may be required to e s t a b l i sh an adequate Horticultural Department at the College* On motion of Mr* Woodman, the matter of residence for president e l e ct Friday was referred to a committee c o n s i s t i ng of president Shaw and Messrs. Brody and Doelle* On motion of Mr* McPhersfrn, the work in potato i n v e s t i g a t i on and demonstration was transferred from the Horticultural Department to the Farm Crops Department* The Secretary presented t he following telegram from the Michigan Potato Growers Exchange: •To the State Board of Agriculture, East Lansing, Michigan, Service of U*S*Bureau of Markets, Grand Rapids, to be discontinued April 1, appropriation exhausted* Continuation of t h is s e r v i ce of v i t al im portance to us and other 8iotat0 markets agencies* Wisconsin Board of Agri culture has provided for continuation of such s e r v i ce for April in that S t a t e.
