Motion by Mr. Brody that Mr. Hoscoe Larson, a graduate of Iowa State College, be appointed to a half-time fellowship in the department of Dairy Husbandry at the beginning of the school year. Motion by Mr. Btrody that Miss Helen Ellis be appointed quarter-time assistant in the Bepartment of Bacteriology for the school year 1924-25. Carried. Motion by Mr. Sowdy that Lloyd B. Scholl of Ithaca, XT.Y. be appointed to the position made vacant by the resigiation of $r. Sunnells in the department of Animal Pathology, at a salary of $2000, effective September 1, with the title of Instructor in iaximal Pathology and Assistant Animal Pathologist; oiB-fealf of his time being devoted to investigational worts. Carried. Motion by Mr. Brody that Miss Delia Bimis be allowed to devote full time i to the department of Music for the coming year, as recommended by Professor Saylor. On motion of Mr. Brody, Mr. F* H.Clark was appointed half-time graduate assistant in F&zm Crops to replace Mr. B.B* Bobinson, at a salary of $800 from September 25 to June 24* and Mr. A. ^. Mars ton to replace Mr. P-.R. Miller at the same salary. Motion made by Mr• Brody that a contract be offered Mr. L# Gr#'Lill as fiesearch Assistant in Farm Crops at a salary of $1500. "beginning-July 1; the other half of his salary being paid by the U.S. bureau of Plant Industry. Carried. On motion of Mr. Growdy, Miss Leola fioberts was appointed stenographer in the Soils Separtment to replace Miss Nora Williams at a salary of $ 1300, effective July 24th. Carried. Motion made by Mr. Brody that Mr. J. W. Stack be allowed to visit the Field Museum at Chicago with expenses paid. Carried. On motion of Mr. Brody, Mr. Hasselman's request to attend the meeting of the American Association of Agricultural College Editors at Broolcings, South Dakota, with expenses paid, was granted. Motion by Mr# Br^dy that Sr. Siltner be allowed to attend the annual meeting of the American Veterinary Medical A-ssociation to be hald at Bes Moines, Iowa, August 18, with expenses paid; and that Br. Hallman be allowed to attend the American Veterinary Medical Association meeting at ties Moines, Iowa, the week of August 18. Carried. Mr. resigns. Funds allowed T.W^G.A. On motion of Mr. McPherson the resignation of LeSoy Stegeisan, as Library assistant, effective August 31, was accepted. Motion by Mrs. Stockman that #500 be allowed from college funds for Y. W. C. A. work during t2ae coming school year. Carried. RI A letter was received from H* J* McCarthy, Secretary of the Alumni Association, which contained the following resolutions; Resolutions from R.J*MCCarthy Alumni Assoc* "ESSOLVED, That the M. ±* (?• Association congratulate the College on the success of the military department under the leadership of Lt. Col. £• L. Sherburae in gaining a distinguished rating from the inspectors of th«r War depart- mait, and that the Association urges that proper facilities be provided for the housing of the department, especially the new drill hall which has been requested and approved by the State #oard of Agriculture. ftBESO31VED, 3?hat our congratulations be extended to the State Board of Agriculture for its successful defense of college freedom in financial affairs, and that we urge the support of every alumnus to maintain this freedom. "KSSOLVED, That we support the resolution of our Executive Conmiittee in urging the adoption of the new name which is proposed for the College: "Michigan State Sollege of Agriculture, Engineering, Arts, and Sciences." Motion by Mr# Srody that conduit be extended from the Home Economics Building to the Union Memorial Building to connect the heating pipes of the Union Building with the college heating system; the expense of the mechanical work to be borne by the Alumni Association. Carried. Motion by Mrs. Stockman that the Committee of Peans be authorized to grant appropriate degrees at the close of summer school to all candidates who com- plete requirements for graduation at that time. Carried. Motion by Mr. McPherson that Mr. Craven be offered a salary of $3500 with the rank of Associate Professor, effective September 1. Carried. Motion by Mr. Srody that Mr. J. W. Scott be offered a contract for $3750 with the rank of Associate Professor, ^Economics Department, effective Sept- ember 1st. Carried. Motion by Mrs. Stockman that Mr. Homer be authorized to study market- ing conditions in the state this summer* Carried. Motion by Mrs* Stockman that Mr* J. B* Hasselmanfs salary be advanced to #3750, effective July 1st. Carried. Motion by Mrs* Stockman that Mrs* Landon be authorized to hire four additional library assistants, subject to the approval of ©r* Buitterfield. Motion by M^s# Stoclonan that the Board express the appreciation of the work of Acting President Shaw for the splendid way he has carried on the work of the college with the cooperation of the entire staff and student body; and for the fine financial management that has secured the #125,000 reduction of the deficit and put the college on a good financial basis* Carried* Motion made by M2*s* Stockman that an additional #1000 be appropriated to the M* A* C* Alumni Association to provide assistance which will enable them to issue a catalog in the not far distant future.
