Dr. Stafseth had been appointed as Exchange Lecturer in Hungary for next college year under the American-Hungarian Foundation. 3. He had letters of acknowledgment from the University of Michigan on the matter of the death of Dr. Burton; ffom the Kiwanis Club relative to the College paying part of the expense of sending the College Band to the National Kiwanis Club Convention; and from the Washington M. A. C. Association thanking the Board for the visit of Prof, and Mrs. Gunson 4. Important conferences had been held the past month with a group of the representatives of the State Cooperative Exchange; with a committee representing the Michigan Manufacturers Association; with a group representing the Country Church Interests of the major denomin ations of the state; with the State Highway Department; and with the Smith-Hughes Vocational Administration. Secretary Halladay reported that: 1. Complete reorganization of the store had been effected. 2. A notice had been received from the Department of Labor and Industry Division concerning certain orders issued to the fraternities and sororities relative to reducing fire risks, etc. III. RESIGNATIONS, APPOINTMENTS, SALARY ADJUSTMENTS. ETC., FOR BECOHD.OR INFORMATION. The President recommended that the following resignations be accepted. 1. Kidman 2. The resignation of C.M.Kidman as County Agricultural Agent, St.Clair Co., effective March 31. On motion of Mr. McPherson it was voted that the resignation be accepted. Resignation of Mrs. M. Smith 3. The resignation of Mrs. Marian Rogers Smith, as Extension Specialist in Home Management effective June 30. On motion of Mr. Brody it was voted that the resignation be accepted. The President recommended that the following appointments be madei Appointment of E.A« Finney Civil Engr. 1. The appointment of Mr. E. A. Finney as teacher of surveying in the Department of Civil Engineering at the rate of $600 from the first of April to the first of July, the appoint ment to become effective the first of April. On motion of Mr. McPherson it was voted that the appointment be confirmed. 17. "EXECUTIVE ORDERS", FOR CONFIRMATION. 1. The President requested confirmation of the following cases: Jessie?.Clark's appointment to continue Miss Jessie F. Clark's appointment as an instructor in drawing be continued at the rate of #200 per month for April, May, June and at the rate of #125 per month for July and August. On motion of Mr. McPherson it was voted that the appointment be confirmed. Rose N.Zaringls appointment to continue 2. Miss Rose Nell Zaring's appointment be continued to the end of June at the rate -of $200 per month from April to June inclusive. Miss Zaring is an instructor in the English Department. On motion of Mr. McPherson it was voted that the appointment be confirmed. IV. 3* Mrs* May-P. Xirby receive #200 additional at the March pay day for extra services rendered daring the three months of the winter term. On motion of Mr. McPherson it was voted that the extra salary be granted. 4* That Mr. Lawrence Martin, who now has a leave of absence for one year from the English Department, be granted his resignation from that Department. Mr. George Whiting*s leave of absence be extended one more year without pay. Mr. Whiting Geo.Whiting*s is an instructor in the English Department. The President recommended that Mrs. Stockman represent the State loard of Agriculture at the American Association of University Women at Indianapolis, Indiana, April 8 to 11. On motion of Mr. Gowdy it was voted that Mrs. Stockman be appointed. ]leave of absent •ce extended Mrs.Stockman to go to Indianapolis 2. The President recommended that Mr. H. ~H. Love, Professor of Plant Breeding at Cornell University, receive #175 for conferences and lectures which he gave the week of March 2• H.H.Love t to receive #175. On motion of Mr. 3rody it was voted that Mr. Love be given the 4l75. VI. REPORTS FROM COMMITTEES OF THE BOARD. 1. A report from the committee on Education relative to the proposal of the Menominee County School of Agriculture and Domestic Economy. On motion of Mr. McColl it was voted to adopt the following- Report from Comm. on 2d. Menominee Go. Ag. School Resolved, that the State Board of Agriculture accept the; property of the Menominee County School of Agriculture, with the understanding that the said property be util ized for the promotion of education in Agriculture and Home Economics, and for working i with the rural communities in the Upper Peninsula in their economiccaciid social problems- Provided 1. That it is understood that the question of establishing a Junior College of Agriculture and Home Economics will be thoroughly investigated by the Board, and that this present acceptance does not carry with it the decision to establish a Junion College, and Provided further 2. That the Legislature makes adequate appropriation for the next tTO years for . i the purpose of carrying' this plan into effect. VII. MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS ffROH PRESIDENT. SECRETARY. PEAKS. ETC. 1. The President stated that the Puroell dill had passed Congress authorizing further en- ;Purnell Bill dowment of Agricultural Experiment Station for investigations, and Agricultural Economics, J etc. This act requires the assent of the Legislature or Governor to make it valid. On motion of Mr. ^rody it was voted that a bill be prepared for submission to Legislature. 3. Secretary Halladay presented a request from Colonel Sherburne relative to certain ex- [Expenses in penses in connection with the Horse Show. I connection wrfe| jHorse Show On motion of Mr. Srody it was voted that a sum not to exceed #150 be granted for feed for horses. 4. Secretary Halladay brought up certain minor matters as follows: A request for a complete audit and Economic Survey of the College finances. On motion of Mr. McQoll it was voted that the house which was known as the House* and r e c e n t ly remodelled and made into a modern and up-to-date Health Service, be given in exchange for the appropriation made by the Legislature of 1924, for a Health Service j Building. On motion of Mr. Gowdy it was voted that a committee composed of Mrs. Stockman, Mr. Butterfield and Secretary Halladay be appointed a committee to negotiate for Houses for Women. Fund.
