The President recommended that he be authorized until further notice to arrange, with such exceptions as ha may think wise, with persons elected to vacancies or-new positions for the coming ysar, to serve on an eleven months basis with opportunity for professional improvement either during the summer or at the end of a period of years. 3 new positi ons in English Dept. P.G.Lundin appointed State Club Leader On motion of Mrs. Stockman it was so voted. 2. The President recommended that three new positions be established in the Department of English and that the President be authorized to employ the candidates.* On motion of Mr. Brody it was so voted 3« The President recommended that'Mr. P. &• Lundin be appointed Assistant State Club Leader, in charge of Poultry and Crop Projects, at the rate of #2600 per year, the appointment to become effective July 1, 1925. On motion of Mr. McColl it was voted that Mr. Lundin be appointed Assistant State Club Leader* Donald T. Ries appointed 4. The President recommended that Mr. Donald T. Ries be appointed as Instructor In Entom ology at a salary at the rate of flSOO per year, the appointment to take effect Sept. 1, 1925. Twing be appointed as County Agricultural Agent for Mecosta, the rate of pay from the College to be §1800 beginning May 1. On motion of Mr. Mcpherson it was voted that Mr. Twing be appointed. Mr. L. Arnold Appointed S. The President recommended that Mr* L. Arnold be appointed as half-time assistant in the Department of Poultry Husbandry effective the fall of 1925 at a salary at the rate of #800. per year. On motion of Mr. Mcpherson it was voted that the appointment be accepted. Resignation of Dr.BoBland 7# The President reported the resignation of Dr. A. Borland, same effective April 15, 1925 and that Dr. Borland^ salary was contined until April 30f 1925. On motion of Mr. McColl it was voted that Dr. Borland's resignation be accepted. Appointment of Dr. Olin and Dr.Ramsey 8. The President reported the appointment of Dr. R. M. Olin as Director of the Health Service at the same rate of pay as Dr. Borland received, same effective April 15, 1925. Dr. Olin's assistant, Dr. George H. Ramsey is to receive free room and board at the College Health Service On motion of Mr. McColl it was voted that the appointment of Dr. Olin be accepted. Resignation of M.F. Ja&kson 9# The President recommended that Mr. M. S. Jackson*s resignation as County Agricultural Agent of Mecosta County be accepted and take effect March 31, 1925. On motion of Mr. Mcpherson it was voted that Mr. Jackson's resignation be accepted. 10« The president recommended the appointment ,of C. E« Atwater as County Agricultural Agent for Grand Traverse and Leelanau Counties, the salary to be divided #1800 on ext ension funds and the balance by the counties, same to become effective March 15f 1925« \ C.E.Atwater ; appointed On motion of Mr. McPherson it was voted that the appointment of Mr* Atv/ater be accepted. 11. The student fee to the Union Board be fixed at $4.50 per year same to become effective the fall of 1925. S. degree in Agriculture to Superintendent J.' .1/. Slaughter of the Lansing Schools. On motion of Mrs. Stockman it was voted that the degree be granted. 7* The amount allowed for the part payment of 'the supervising teachers in East Lansing be in creased from #8,000 to $10,000, this increase to include the payment of a part time teacher in Home Economics at Okemos. On motion of Mr. Gowdv it was voted that the increase be allowed and teacher appointed. i_ 8# #1800 be appropriated for a teacher of Home Economics in East Lansing. This appropriation * is made necessary by the fact that the practice facilities for teachers of Home Economics have been extended to include Lansing and Gkemos as well as Haslett and East Lansing. On motion of Mr. Gowdy it was voted that the appropriation be granted. 9« Mr. Easselman's recommendation, that the college buy 3,500 copies of the "Chapman-Swanson" birds-eye view, paying twenty-five cents each for them, including mailing tubes, be accepted. These views are to be presented to boy scouts at the opening foot-ball game next fall. On motion of Mr. 3rody it was voted that the views be purchased. I 10. The authorization of the Faculty to establish a Business Administration curriculum to take effect the fall of 1925 and leading to the degree of A. B. be accepted. ^ On motion of Mr. McColl it was voted that such a course be established. 11. That School holidays will be observed as follows:- Thanksgiving, Washington's iiirthday, Decoration Day, Christmas, New Years, Labor Day, Fourth of July. On motion of Mr. Brody it was so voted. VI. That the Delco Lighting Plant at Dunbar was worn out and that this plant be replaced by a new Kohler system. The President reconimaaided the following in regard to the Menominee County Agriculture Agreement in al School: T r e: Menominef. . That the t r u s t e es of the Menominee County Agricultural School w i ll not for the present t r a n s f er tte property of the school to the State Board of Agriculture, but they w i ll t r a n s f er the management fof the school to the State Board of Agriculture for a p e r iod of two years beginning July 1, 1925. The State Board of Agriculture w i ll continue the school m th the present courses, and in addition w i ll e s t a b l i sh such other courses, e s p e c i a l ly winter courses, in a g r i c u l t u re and home economics as w i ll extend the service of the i n s t i t u t i on to the farm youth of the Upper Peninsula. The State Board of Agri culture w i ll make a thorough-going study of the p o s s i b l i t i es of the school for the future, keeping in mind p a r t i c u l a r ly the question whether or not this should be made a Junior College of Agriculture and Home Economics. On motion of Mr. McSoll it was voted that the request of Clarence Holmes, that certain students from the School for the Blind be permitted to take work at this institution-without incurring expense instrumental to their course, that the matter be referred to the President and Secretary with power to act, 5» On motion of Mr. Srody it was voted that a man be employed for research in farm taxation as it applies to local government. 6. On motion of Mr. Gowdy it was voted that all salaries be paid in twelve equal install ments, beginning July 1, 1925 7.On motion of Mr. McPherson it was voted that the three Alumni members of the State Board of Agriculture be appointed a special committee acting with the President, to confer with the Executive Committee of the Alumni Association and with the Union Board, relative to matters of common concern. On motion of Mr. Growdy it was voted that the President and Secretary be appointed a conimittee to appear before the Administrative Board and request them to build the Armory as soon as funds are available.
