On motion of Mrs. Stoclman, it was voted to appoint Dr. Olin Director of Health Service at a salary of $6,000#00 per year, effective February 1, 1927. 4. President Butterfield presented a request from Colonel Sherfcurne that a definite academ- ic r a t i ng be given the members of the m i l i t a iy staff. It was voted that the question of academic rating for military staff members be left to the President with power to a c t. 5. Director Willard recommended that Mr. John Sins be employed as Extension Specialist in Soils at a salary of #3600, effective March lf 1927. On motion of Mr. McPherson, it was voted to approve the above reconEoendation. 6* Director Willard recommended t h at Mr. Leo M. Geismar be granted an annual retirement allowance of llOOO, effective July lf 1927f and t h at his resignation as Agricultural Agent of Houghton County be effective June 30f 1927. On motion of Mr. Bro^y, it was voted t h at Hr. Leo M. Geismar be given a leave of absence for one year and that h is salary be fixed at #lf000 per year while on t h is leave. 7. Upon Hr. Willard's recornn©ndatlont it was voted that authorization be given for the employment of temporary home economics help to serve the counties of Antrim, Burnett and Charlevoix, for tiro months. 8. Mr. Willard recommended that if the balances of January, February and Perhaps March looiced favorable a s p e c i a l i st be appointed in poultry to serve the Upper Peninsula, t h is to be a permanent position if undertaken. 5?he Board discussed t h is and accepted the suggestion of deferring action u n t il the finan^ c i al reports of February 10th were a v a i l a b l e. On motion of Mr. McPherson, it was voted, to accept the above report and also t h at the SWB be made the report of the Board to the Legislature. A copy of said report is f i l ed in the Secretary's Office. On motion of Mr. Brody, it was voted t h at the President draft a resolution commending the commit tee • wlio made such an exhaustive study regarding the Menominee School and for t h e ir splendid r e p o r t. 2. Hr. Wilkins presented a financial report covering the period July 1, 1927, to December 31, 192S* On motion of Mr. Brody, it was voted t h at the above report be accepted and placed on f i l e. On motion of Mr. Mo.Coll, it was voted t h at the finance committee and Secretary be author- ized to borrow such sums^as may be necessaiy from time to time far the purpose of discount- ing our b i l ls and extending our c r e d i t, not to exceed $250,000.00* 3« Mr. Kidder of the .Attorney SeneraL's Department appeared "before the Board and present- ed the case now pending between the Woodworth h a i rs and the Michigan State Collage. After presenting the matter, it was voted by the Board that the same be l e ft with the President and Secretary for adjustment providing satisfactory settlement can be isade. BUSINESS. Legislative Budget Above budget presented Com of House & Senate _ III 1. 2ha Legislative Budget was presented for farther consideration. On motion of Mr. McColl, it was voted to present the Legislative Budget, as presented to u s, to the Committees of the House and Senate for consideration and that the Extension Budget be referred to the Extension Committee with power to f ix such figures as seem n e- cessary to place before the College Legislative Coismittee.
