I APPOINTMEWTS JAppointments 1. Mrs. A. R. Schubert, period October 1st to December 15th, salary |2,500 per year, to temporarily take charge of the work formerly done by Miss Emma DuBord, resigned, until a permanent appointment can be made- 2. Mr. Myron Mark Golden, Instructor in English, one year appointment on the nine monthsrs ' !; • ' basis, at a salary of $1800 per year, effective October 1st. ! { j • • t • j j 5. Mrs. Berneita Scott Rhodes, as half-time Instructor in Home Economics for fall term of 1923, j^ salary $350.00. 4. Miss Muriel L. Hoover, Clerk in the Division of Liberal Arts, to succeed Mrs. Mary Clewley, resigned, at same salary rate, & 2 0 0, effective October 15th. 5. Mr- Howard Schroeder, stockman, Creamery Department, replacing Mr. Ray Filkins, resigned, at a salary of #100 per month, effective October 1st. S. Mrs. Eleanor J. Liebum, Instructor in the Department of History and Political Science for the present fall term, salary $500. effective October 1st. Miss Briggs is a student at the college. f | 8. Mr. Frank Anthony Gallo, half-time graduate assistant in Bacteriology to replace H. Watson '•[; i who was appointed and failed to report for duty. 9. Ronald M. Warren, as Instructor in Chemistry to fill the position authorized, at a salary of ^1800 per year, effective October 1st. 10. Mr.. Leroy Mecay as half-time graduate assistant in Chemistry. \ j j •11. Mr. H. B. Dirks as Acting Dean of Engineering, effective November 1st at a salary of S6,000. .] 12. Mr-. Mack Mv Nasif, half time graduate assistant in Chemistry. 15. Mr. H. M. Shulman, special instructor in Animal Husbandry for a period of six weeks, at $200.00 in order to present a course In Microscopic Study of Heats to selected men from Detroit Packing Plants. Appointment effective November 1st, with the understanding that fees for tuition will cover salary and expenses of the work. 14. The following positions were included in the College budget for this fiscal year, without the names of appointees. Authorization is requested for the addition of these names to the budget: Miss Margaret Pasch, Nurse, $1600.per year, plus $5.00 per week for room rent. Miss Ruth Stover, Nurse, $100.00 per month, plus ill.00 a month for room rent. Mr. L. M. Wood, Graduate Assistant in Forestry, $800. Mr. M . C. Peterson, Graduate Assistant In C . E. L.' C. Branaman for the purpose of conveying the Senior Class in Animal Husbandry to Purdue Uni versity for Live Stock judging practice. 9. R. W. Newton' to attend a meeting of the Specialists In Taxation, Columbus, Ohio, Saturday, October 12th with expenses paid by the college from Experiment Station funds allotted to the Economics Section for Purnell Project. 10. Professor E. L. Anthony to attend the College Feed Conference Board meeting at the Hotel Missouri, St. Louis, at 5:00 P.M. October 14th. Travel and subsistence expenses. 11. Recommendation .from the Committee considering the Beaver project that the project be held strictly to the field of biological investigation and be conducted by the Department of Zoology in cooperation with the Department of Conservation, using funds from the Depart ment of Zoology or if necessary a special appropriation from the State Board of Agriculture of an amount not to exceed $800. for the purpose of building pens, providing feed, etc. The committee is agreed that the Experiment Station or other Agricultural Division funds should not be employed in any project connected with beaver raising in view of the present need of available funds for strictly agricultural purposes. i 837 \ Beaver project to be con-. ducted by Zoology Dept. §800 approp. for same. Request from Mr. Wilkins that $500 each be granted to the Economics Department and the Education Department for new equipment. On motion of Mrs. Stockman, it was voted to grant the above request and take the money from the reserve fund. 5. Meeting of the Association of Governing Boards to be held in Purdue University Lafayette, Indiana, November 7th, 8th, and 9th. On motion of Mrs. Stockman, it was voted that Mr. McCoil represent the Institution at the above meeting. It was also voted that the annual dues of S25.00 be paid. 4. Cards of thanks were received from the families of the late Alfred J. Doherty and Andrew H. Lavers for the flowers which were sent by the College. 5. Felt, coach freshman basketball team for the 1929-50 season at a salary of $'150.00. Provision has been made in this year's salary budget for this appointment. Z. Mr. Stewart H. Chamberlain, Graduate Assistant in the Physics Department, effective September 1st. Reappointment* 5. Professor Johnston has been using three employees r/ho are no?/ on our regular salary payroll for correcting English papers, namely: Miss Grigg ($19.25), Miss Brumbaugh, (f15.25), both of whom are library workers, and Mrs. Liebum of the History'Department,- (§1.25) • It has been the .understanding that no one can appear upon more than one payroll* 4. Authorisation for the addition of $780. to the budget of the Department of English and to be taken from the reserve fund, for the services of Mrs# Rathke for the months of November to June. Mrs. Rathke is now handling extra sections in Modern ..Languages, and has so far this fall been paid from the English Department maintenance fund which is not adequate to carry her the balance of the time and cover current department expenses too. 5. Jesse B. Huggett, County Agricultural Agent for Gladwin County, effective December 1st, at a salary of $2400 per year, to be paid from Federal Smith Lever funds. 6.
