-MPS Minutes of the Special Meeting of the State Board of Agriculture October '28, 1933 Present: Messrs. Brody, Chairman, Berkey, Daane, McColl, McPherson; Mr* Thompson, representing the Superintendent of Public Instruction; President Shav7, Secretary Halladay. Absent: Mrs. Wilson The meeting was called to order by the President in the President's Office at 10 o'clock. Mr. Mpnson appeared befbiei board and out-- lined work of \ firm. Mr. O.J. Munson, of the firm of Architects Bowd and Munson, appeared before the Board and outlined the work which he proposed that the Board authorize in connection with his firm. He also pointed out to the Board the items which would come under the retainer fee and those which would, be*on commission. No action. Com. appted. to contactGov.? re: buildings \ to be built by Gov. under j code. On motion of Mr. Berkey, it was voted that a committee be appointed to contact with the Governor and give him an idea of the buildings which the Board desired to have built under the building code authorized by theGovernment; also to explain to him about the architectural services which have been rendered in the past and the firms employed at various times. The committee named was: Mr. Brody and Mr. McColl. Attorney Ballard appear: ed before Bl. \ res claims of I Institute. 2. Mr. Byron Ballard of the firm of Shields, Silsbee and Ballard appeared before the Board, after having reviewed the claims of the Michigan State Institute of Music and the various items which they are asking the State Board of Agriculture to pay. After discussion, it was votedt on motion of Mr. Berkey, that a committee of three be authorized to meet a committee of the Institute and see if some definite conclusion could not be reached. The committee appointed was: Mr. Brody, Mr. Ballard and Mr. Wilkins. The Board also expressed a desire to have a representative of the Attorney General1s Department invited to act with the Committee. Cap. National Bank rec. for Gov. funds instead of Peoples State (Trust fund basis only) Requests for refunds of fees left to Pres. & Sec. 'with power. 3. Letter from Treasurer G. 0. Wilkins regarding the depository for Government monies. At the last meeting of the Board the Peoples State Bank of Lansing was named depository for Govern ment monies, with a limit placed at $150,000, with acceptable security. After an interview with the President of the bank, Mr. Wilkins was informed that the deposits could not be covered by securities and Mr. Wilkins is now recommending that the Capital National Bank be named depository for these Government funds on a trust fund basis only and that this arrangement be continued until further notice. On motion of Mr. Daane, it was voted to approve the above recommendation. The following requests for refund of fees were presented to the Board and it was voted that they be left to the President and Secretary with power to act to report back to the Board their decision at the next meeting: Out of State Tuition Requests for Refunds Mr. Win. Byrne Mr. Curtis Rollings Mr. G. F. Grizsard Request for Refund of Student fees Miss Betty Richardson (taking 10 credits) 5. The meeting adjourned at 11 ofclock to meet with the Board of Directors of the Michigan State In stitute of Music at the Union for a discussion of the bills referred to In Item 2. After the adjournment of this joint meeting the members of the Institute Board were entertained at luncheon at the Union as guests of the President and the State Board of Aericulture.
