Mr. McPherson^ seconded by Mr. Jakway,, it was voted to approve the appointment of'Mr. William Berkey as Chairman of the Board for a period of two years, to succeed himself• RESIGNATIONS 1. Resignation of Miss Leona Erdt as general duty nurse at the Health Service, effective March 16, 1942* Miss Erdt has been ordered to duty with the United States Navy Nursing Corps. 2. Resignation of Mrs* V. Jeannette Collins as general duty nurse at the Health Service, effec tive March 15. 1942* Mrs. Collins left because of defense conditions. 3. Resignation of Dr. Louise Schnute as Assistant Physician at the Health Service, effective April 30, 1942* Dr. Schnute will enter private practice. 4« Resignation of David D, Diehl as Assistant in Physical Education for Men, effective February 28, 1942. Mr. Diehl-will spend all of his time on his farm* 5. Resignation of Verl C. Mershon as Extension Short Course Instructor in Food Merchandising, effective March .14* 1942* The State Board of Control for Vocational Education and the State Retail Grocers1 Association have agreed that these short courses should terminate for this year. 6. She is accepting another position at a higher salary. 9. Resignation of Scott Pauley as half-time graduate graduate assistant in Forestry, effective March 31 j 1942. Mr. Gee has accepted a temporary position -with the U* S.Amy Ordnance as supervisor of auditing. 2.- Leave of absence vdth full pay for four months for Arthur Bell, Extension Specialist in Agri cultural Engineering, effective March 1, 1942* Mr* Bell has been an employee since July 1,. 1928, and has given exceptional service. Appointment of Charles W„ Griffin as part-time'assistant' baseball coach at a salary of $250 for; Appointments the season, effective February 1, 1942* 2. Appointment of Dr. Leonard Polkers as Assistant Physician at the Health Service at a salary of j $3750 per year, effective May 1, 1942. Dr. Polkers was employed in the same capacity at a salary of $3500 per year from September 1939 to June 30, 1941» He will replace Dr, Louise Schnute (salary $3300) who has resigned. 3. Appointment of Miss Elzada Winterle as general duty nurse at the Health Service at a salary of \ $95 Per inonth plus meals and uniforms laundered, effective March 24, 1942. Miss Winterle will replace Mrs* V. Jeannette Collins who has resigned* 4* Appointment of Miss Edna Baur as general duty nurse at the Health Service at a salary of $95 per month plus meals and uniforms laundered, effective March 16, 1942P Miss Baur will replace Miss Leona Erdt who has resigned. 5. Appointment of Gertrude Mueller as Dietitian at North Hall at a salary of $125 per month for the period from April 1 to June 21, 1942> This is a new position. 6. Appointment of George T* Gantrick as visiting professor in Education for the six-week summer session 1942 at a salary of $400 for the period. Mr. Cantrick is the Superintendent of Schools at Monroe, Michigan. 7* Appointment of Ernest &. Hildner, Jr., as a member of the faculty of the History Department for the six-week summer session 1942 at a salary of $500 for the period. Mr. Hildner is Dean of Illinois College, Jacksonville, Illinois. 8* Appointment of Theodore J. Werle as a member of the faculty of the Sociology Department for the six-week summer session 1942 at a salary of $200 for the period. Mr* Werle is the Executive Director of the Michigan TB Association* 9. Appointment of Mrs. Eiina Beck as County Club Agent for Houghton and Keweenaw Counties at a salary of $100 per month for the period from April 1 to October 15, 1942. This arrangement has been made for previous years* 10. Appointment of John Wood Foster as District 4-H Club Agent in Kalamazoo, St. Joseph and Branch Counties at a salary of $2100 per year on a permanent 12-month basis, effective March 16, 1942. Mr. Foster will replace Ralph May (salary |2100) who has been transferred* 11* Continuation of the appointment of Fred Roth as Assistant Agricultural Engineering Specialist at a salary of $175 per month for the period from March 13 to June 30, 1942* 12. Appointment of William H* Taylor as Instructor and Supervisor of the MA Short Course Pro grams at a salary of $3000 per year, effective for the period from April 1 to June 30, 1942* This is a cooperative arrangement with the State Board of Control for Vocational Education, and the College will be reimbursed for 75 per cent of Mr. Taylor's salary from Vocational funds* Not approved. Appointment of John F„ Schltterback as special lecturer in Hotel Administration for spring term 1942* Mr. Schlotterback is to he paid an honorarium of about $100 plus expenses from Chicago for each lecture, the total amount not to exceed $300* 19. Transfer of Dr. John W„ Cunkelman from the Anatomy Department to the Department of Surgery and Medicine at no change in salary, effective April 1, 1942. Dr». Cunkelman will replace William F. Riley who is on military leave. 20. Appointment of Merlin D. Eggleston as Instructor in Anatomy at a salary of #1800 per year, effective July 1, 1942. Mr. Eggleston will replace Dr. Cunkelman whose salary is $2300. •21. Rqy Se Abel and Loren R. Nus are half-time graduate assistants in Speech. Dean Emmons recom mends that they be paid $200 additional salary for the spring term 1942 for teaching extra classes. This is a partial replacement of Burdette Stampley who is on military leave. 22. Rules for Michigan State College Loan Fund: 1. It shall be used as a long term loan, with the rate of interest 6%. 2. The loan should not run over a period of two years except in extreme cases. 3* At the time of the loan, a plan for "monthly re-payment should be discussed. The guarantee is to be $10,000 on"a home and ; home basis* The game this fall is to be played November 28th instead of October 24th (the date scheduled for Santa Clara). A game with the Great Lakes Training School has been scheduled here for October 24th.
