Doherty, Waterbury and President Snyder. The minutes of the previous meetings were approved without reading. On motion of Judge Carpenter, the action of the Board on August .kvTB.-rd.lng of I icontract for! ^addition to j || Botanical iBldg. con- :: firmed* 18th, when less than a quorum was present in opening the bids for an addition to the Botanical Building and letting the contract for the same, to George F. Schmidt, of Lansing,'who'was the lowest bidder, was approved. On motion of President Snyder, the following resolutions with reference to the bequest from the estate of William Smith Sa3'-er were adopted: * RESOLVED-, That the State Board of Agriculture accepts the sum of Five Hundred Dollars from the estate of William Smith Sayer and agrees to in Resolutions | 'on bequest of iWM.S.Sayer. ! vest it to the best of its power for the purpose'of providing a permanent prize fund or income to be offered to the student, under-graduate or graduate, doing the most satisfactory and commendable work in Bacteriology. ••'•'• That a suitable announcement by the head of the department of Bact eriology be made in the annual catalog of the college. That the conditions controlling the award of said pri^e be left with the head of the Bacteriological department and that these conditions be announced each year by said individual not later than the first of November.' Aw Short Course! iifor Farmers.? On motion of Mr. Waterbury, the plan of Dean Shaw for short courses for farmers was approved. On motion of President Snyder, the matter of the substitution of the "above short courses for the round-up institute was referred to Dean Shaw, Professor Taft and the Farm Committee, On motion of Judge Carpenter, authority was given to Prefessor Barrows to have mounted for the museum the collection of animals presented to the institution.by Mr..D.S.Bullock, and the Secretary was authorized to set over the necessary funds to,the Zoological department. On motion of President Snyder, the request of Mr. Eustace to at tend the meeting of the Society for Horticultural Science and the American Po- mological Association at St. Catherine's, Ontario, September 15th to 17th, was granted; and alscythe request .of Dean Bissell for authority to send members of (Mounting an- | imals for !
