On motion of Mr. Doherty, the question of the removal of a clump of ever- • green trees in front of the -agri cultural "building, was referred to Prof. Eustace and President Snyder with power to act. On motion of Mr. Graham, the salaries of C. S. Eo"binson, Chas. w. Brown, and P. A. Spragg were made $1350.00 each beginning September 1st. On motion of Mr. Wallace, the salary of Mr. E. G. Fischer,, instructor in English; was made #1000.00 beginning September 1st, and Mr. Chas. W. Chapman v/as appointed Assistant Professor• of • Physics and Electrical Engineering at a salary of $1300.00 per annum. . . .. On motion of Mr. Waterljury, Prof. "Pettit was authorized to maie a t r ip to Hew England to study the Gypsy and "brown-tailed moths and methods of destroying them. J The matter of coal contract was referred tack to the Board, and on motion of Mr. Graham, the proposition of the Pittsburg & Buffalo Coal Company for furnishing the requirements of the College with Nut P and SlacK at #2.50 per ton, was approved upon the basis of the report of the Secretary as to the t e s ts made. On motion of Mr. Wallace, the secretary was directed to reserve the right in coal contract to t e st various coals, and during the year to t e st the Michigan coals.
