'meetings. • - | On motion of Mr. G-raham^ the secretary was requested to secure plans for Baicery : a bakery and storage house to be used in connection with the college boarding clubis. Plans for an addition to the Armory* presented by Lieut. Cron, were re- I Armory ferred by the President to the Committee on Buildings and college property. On motion of Mr. Woodman^ the President was directed to invite Mr. G-eismkr Geismar Superintendent of the Upper Peninsula Experiment Station, to attend the next meeting of the Board. The secretary made the following report in reference to the Jenlson defalcation: To the State Board of Agriculture:- G-entlemen:- February 28, 1912. on August 16ths I reported to you the defalcation of Luther Jenison, I 4 TDOoXKeeper> amounting to #3580,00. I now desire to report that the full amount of! this defalcation has \>een made good - |19?1«61 having been received from the estate of Mr. Jenisonj and '#1608.39 having been paid by myself to maKe the tfai&nce due. i I wish to say further^ that the entire accounts of Mr. Jenison j for the period during which he was employed, have been checked item by item, the j cash booK with the ledgert and Items amounting to $3480.00 definitely located. The •• re- • . { maining $100.00 was evidently talcen in some way that has not been discovered. Mr. j Jenison used two methods in abstracting funds, f i r st by taKing deposits and maKing | entry upon the ledger but no't upon the cash booK, and second, by putting through j withdrawals the second time and abstracting the money, making the entry upon the I cash booK but not upon the ledger. There is on f i le in my office a detailed lift I of the individual items so taxen. • I maKe this brief statement so that there may be a record of the re- \ j storatlon of the funds outside of the booKs of the institution, and also a record I of the methods by which the funds were abstracted. On motion of Mr. G-rahams Dean Shaw was authorized to employ a suitable person to devote a sufficient amount of his time to College- Extension worJc in Field forestry, and to do such other field work as may be deemed advisable. On motion of Mr. waterburys #5,000.00 was added to the apportionment of jthe Miscellaneous Fund* on account of the publication of the- bulletin of Prof. Barrows, on Michigan Bird Life* On motion adjourned. President Snyder reported the employment of Mr. C. A. Tyler as College Extension Field Agent in Forestry at a salary of §1500, beginning April 23rd, under authority given at a former meeting of the Board. .Removing _ pear J. orchard and 'other trees On motion of Mr. ¥7aterbury, the recommendations of Prof. Eustace in re- ference to removing the pear orchard on the west side of the grounds and other small trees on t;ie campus, was adopted.
