Rates, cont. i Married Housing Rates, cont. i^&iivCLS^^^ The Married Students Union had requested and received permission for a representative from their group to present to the Trustees their major complaints regarding the married housing facilities. As spokesman for the married students, Mr. Wayne Magee enumerated the following areas of concern: fencing, potentially harmful shrubbery, inadequate recreational facilities for children, inadequate pest control, day care facilities, the assignment of singles to married housing, and debt retirement policies. Vice President Wilkinson reported that appropriate University authorities are working to improve most of the conditions described by Mr. Magee, and, with the cooperation of the married students, will continue to work on those improvements. He also clarified the University!s debt retirement policies as they relate to married housing income. Trustee Stack moved to include in the motion to approve the recommended married housing rates an amendment that "The University, in conjunction with the MSU , create a Married Students Housing Advisory Council to meet regularly with the business and student affairs offices to enhance the continued communication and dialogue and resident input." Seconded by Trustee Radcliffe. President Wharton suggested that the first part of Trustee Stack's amendment be changed to read: "an amendment to support Vice President Wilkinsonfs recommendation that the University, etc.1' These amendments were accepted by Trustees Carrigan and Bruff. Trustee Bruff stated that he and Trustee Krolikowski had been escorted on a tour of married housing areas by Mr. Magee and Kris Guthrie and while he had observed that, as in all buildings, some painting and special repairs were needed, he could not agree with the description of "litter, filth, and disrepair" as reported recently in the State News.
