Frank "Muddy" Waters was born January 30, 1923 in Chico, California but grew up in Wallingoford, Connecticut. He attended Pawling School and later the Choate School where he graduated in 1943. He attended Michigan Satae University and playe don the football team from 1946-1949 under coaches Charlie Bachman and Biggie Munn. He was given the nickname Muddy while playing as a fullback at MSU. He later coached football at Hillsdale College (1954-1973), Saginaw Valley State University (1975-1979) and MSU (1980-1982). He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2000. He died Deptember 20, 2006.
