Lansing and the college are at last connected by an electric car line. The first cars were run June 14. At present the line extends only to the west gate; it will eventually be ex tended to the library .. The poultry department is getting under way. The poultry house is completed and is awaiting its feath ered tenants. . A. 500 volt ten horse power motor has b~en ordered for the farm. It will be used in place of the steam engine now used to run the feed O'rinder, ensilage cutter and thresh ing machinery. The short walk recently laid con necting the libra.ry with the Abbott Hall walk completes our system of walks. All of the buildings are now -connected by handsome stone walks, but still the ,. farmers" take . to the grass. The hospi tal building is nearing completion. It is situated north of the Lansing Faculty row, facing road. Much valuable work is being done in the foundry which was built last fall. The building extends 60 fe et east of the mechanical laboratory with a wing for the smelting appar atus at the south side. ina wired for electric lights. b . The society at present has thirty two members, the majority of whom belong to the. classes of '96 and '97. The college has changed much durinO' the last few ' years. Those who k~ow say that it has doubled in equipment and facilities since 1885. The
