He has been attached, ~ince 1978 to the Institute for Environmental Studies, in The Netherlands, before joining the Institute for Development--Research and Documentation in 1981. He has been involved in research on integrated environmental models, air pollution problems and presently studies changes in resource utilisation by communal farmers. MR NOVICE HAPPY FIDZANI is a lecturer in Economics at the University of Botswana. He studied at the University of Botswana and Swaziland, University of Ghana, University of Colorado and Williams College. His research interests are in monetary policy, international trade related topics and econometric models. MR DONALD lETSHOlO KGATHI studied at the University of Botswana and Swaziland as well as at the UN Institute for Economic Development and Planning (Dakar). He is now Research Fellow at the National Institute of Development Research and Documentation. His areas of research interest include the Rural Economics of Energy and Industrialisation. MS ATHAlIAH MOlOKOMME is a lecturer in the law Department of the University of Botswana. In addition to teaching introduction to -law, law of Persons and the Family and Customary law, she is interested in the legal status of women as well as their role in society at large. DR VICTOR C.D.MTHUBANI, a graduate of the Universities of london, leeds and Exeter, is a lecturer in EJ:lglish in the University of Botswana. He is also in charge of the English Department's Travelling Theatre. His research interests include Seventeenth and Eighteenth Century Literature, and the African presence in Eighteenth-century Britain .. DR NGllA MW ASE, a Zambian with Malawian roots, is a lecturer in Social Science at the UN Institute for Namibia in Lusaka. He has published papers in international journals especially on the theme of regional cooperation. PROFESSOR M.A. OOMMEN is Professor and Head of the Department of Economics. After obtaining a Diploma in Economic Development from the Institute for the study of Economic Development, Naples, he completed his Ph.D at Kerala University. He was Senior Fulbright scholar and a visiting fellow at the University of Yale. He has published numerous books and papers and has recently edited, with others. Botswana's Economy since Independence, Tata McGraw-Hili, 1983. PROFESSOR JAMES D. TARVER, Department of Demography, University of Botswana. He obtained the undergraduate B.S. Degree at Texas A & M University, Ph.D University of Wisconsin, taught at the University of Arkansas, Oklahoma State University, Utah State University. and the University of Georgia. He served as Executive Adviser to North American Aviation Inc .• and as a Demographic Consultant to the United Nations. MR THABO FAKO is a lecturer in Sociology at the University of Botswana. He studied at Springfield College and Kentucky University before taking up his present teaching position. Currently he is completing a doctoral degree in Sociology at the University of Wisconsin. He is the author of several papers published in learned journals and elsewhere.
