CONTRIBUTORS
  FREDERIK VAN ZYL SLABBERT, formerly Professor of Sociology at the
  University of the Witwatersrand and ex-Leader of the Opposition, is a
  founder-director of the Institute for a Democratic Alternative in South
  Africa, IDASA. He is the author of The Last Wliite Parliament and The
  System and the Struggle.
  ROBERT DAVIES is a senior researcher at the Centro de Estudos
 Africanos, Universidade Eduardo Mondlane, Maputo. He is the co-author
  of The Struggle for South Africa.
 ALF STADLER is Professor of Political Studies at the University of the
 Witwatersrand. He is the author of The Political Economy of Modem South
Africa.
 MAKHOSAZANE GCABASHE works at the Centre for Policy Studies at
 the University of the Witwatersrand.
ALAN MABIN lectures in the Department of Town and Regional Planning
at the University of the Witwatersrand and directs the Programme for
Planning Research (Preplan).
Z. PALLO JORDAN is a member of the National Executive Committee of
the African National Congress. He has also written numerous articles in a
variety of academic and political journals.
ROBERT FINE lectures in sociology at the University of Warwick, England.
RUPERT TAYLOR lectures in the Department of Political Studies at the
University of the Witwatersrand.
EDDIE WEBSTER is Professor of Sociology at the University of the
