Organised labour, globalisation and economic reform : union investment companies in South Africa
The transition to democracy and the politics of the postapartheid regime have opened up the South African economy to investments from Black empowerment companies. One of the first to take up this opportunity have been the union federations who have established a number of for-profit ventures in recent years. Okechukwu C. Iheduru investigates ths phenomenon of "labour capitalism" and assesses its implications for the labour unions and black politics in South Africa.
