A failure of rural protection
Bronwen Manby examines violent crime on the South African farm as well as government responses to this type of crime, in the shape of the "rural protection plan". She argues that while there are deficiencies in the response to violent crime against farm owners, the system has tended to favour protection of farm owners over other farm residents.
