U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt delivers his eleventh State of the Union address
President Franklin Delano Roosevelt delivers his State of the Union address during a fireside chat. He hopes to increase the standard of living, and warns of wartime special interest lobbyists only out for profit. The President recommends initiatives to Congress: a simplified tax law, a continuation of the law for the renegotiation of war contracts, a cost of food law, an early reenactment of the Stabilization Act of 1942, and a national service law.
