U.S. President Barack Obama presents the Medal of Honor to Sergeant Dakota L. Meyer
During a ceremony at the White House President Barack Obama describes the actions of Medal of Honor winner Dakota L. Meyer, who saved the lives of thirty-six US and Afghan troops in Afghanistan in 2009. Meyer is the first living Marine to receive the Medal of Honor since the Vietnam War. An unidentified military aide reads the official Congressional citation as the President presents the medal to Corporal Meyer. U.S. Navy Rear Admiral Chaplain Margaret Grun Kibben delivers the invocation and the benediction.
