U.S. President Barack Obama and South Korean President Lee Myung-bak hold a joint press conference on the U.S.-South Korea Free Trade Agreement
President Barack Obama and South Korean President Lee Myung-bak speak to reporters about the passage of the U.S.-South Korea Free Trade Agreement, which Congress approved on October 12, 2011. President Obama calls the agreement a win for both countries and predicts the creation of thousands of US jobs and billions in new trade. President Lee Myung-bak, speaking through a translator, affirms the strength of the alliance, calls the FTA a milestone, and suggests that the FTA will further strengthen the U.S.-Korea relationship and stimulate economic growth. Both Presidents answer questions from the media about the following: the Iranian-Mexican assassination plot, sanctions against Iran, relations with North Korea, a North Korean-China-Russia gas pipeline, the American Jobs Act, and popular uprisings in Arab countries.
