Obama recounts the record of the Bush administration then reminds listeners of his own administration's record on cutting regulation, reducing the budget, and expanding a social safety net. He challenges the record of the Republican party and the policies they have espoused recalling Lincoln's charge that, "through government, we should do together what we cannot do as well for ourselves." Obama lays out the consequences of approving the Republican budget plan. Obama is questioned by Dean Singleton, chair of the AP board of directors, about several issues including the pending decision by the Supreme Court on the Affordable Care Act.
