U.S. President Barack Obama speaks to troops at Bagram Airbase in Afghanistan
President Obama speaks to troops at Bagram Airbase during an unannounced trip to Afghanistan telling them that the "goal to defeat al-Qaida is within reach", but cautions that the road home will likely be hard and painful for many. He praises the mission, service, and sacrifices they and their families have made. Obama tells the troops that he has signed a strategic partnership agreement with President Hamid Karzai that draws down troop levels and turns over the security of the country to Afghan forces.
