Vice President Joe Biden and Republican challenger Congressman Paul Ryan (R-WI) meet for their only debate of the 2012 campaign. ABC reporter Martha Raddatz moderates. The debate begins with a discussion of Libya and the death of the U.S. ambassador. Biden defends the administration's response while Ryan criticizes the security as inadequate. Ryan criticizes the stimulus package as ineffective while Biden points out that Ryan requested and received stimulus money for Wisconsin. Biden alleges the Romney-Ryan plan wipes out Medicare as it currently functions while Ryan says modest changes for younger workers will preserve the program. They argue over foreign policy in Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria. Ryan says Obamacare infringes on religious freedom. Biden says he refuses to impose his religious beliefs on the rest of the country. They discuss their personal views on abortion, tax policy and job creation with Biden saying Ryan only thinks about the rich and Ryan saying Obama has failed the country.
