U.S. President Barack Obama urges Congress to take action to avoid the "sequestration"
President Obama urges Congress to take action to avoid the automatic budget cuts known as "sequestration" which are scheduled to hit March 1 if lawmakers fail to find a path forward on balanced deficit reduction. Obama calls the "sequester" a "meat clever approach" to budget cutting. Joined by law enforcement officers and first-responders, Obama warns that the automatic cuts, totaling about $85 billion over the course of a year, will prompt job losses, weaken national security, and cancel government services. Held in the South Court Auditorium of the White House.
