U.S. President Barack Obama discusses the sequester and its likely impact
President Obama visits Newport News Shipbuilding in Virginia to discuss the sequester and the likely impact it will have on jobs, the middle class and the defense industry. Obama suggests this is no way to make budget cuts and that he is open to alternative methods. He asks listeners to contact their legislators and make their voices heard. The automatic spending cuts are slated for March 1, 2013.
