Life-long residents Marguerite Coffey and Geraldine (Gerry) Allen share their early memories of Spring Lake. They recall the difficulties of getting to St. Patrick's Catholic School and Grand Haven High School across the river in the early part of the twentieth century. They have vivid memories of riding on the Interurban, the grape vineyards in Spring Lake, ice-skating and sailboat racing, Grand River and Spring Lake boat travel, early Spring Lake shops, school sports, ice houses, and the Civil Rights Movement. Also given is a history of St. Mary's Church in Spring Lake and the Harbor Point area. Gerry shares her family's history.
