The year in review : 1965
This radio program includes excerpts from the original news stories that aired during the year. The program opens with reports of two big fires that happened in Muskegon County. One blaze burned a large part of downtown Muskegon and the other destroyed Lappo Lumber in Fruitport. Also that year, there was a bad accident in Holland between a school bus and a car. On the lighter side, 1965 was also the year that the new Grand Haven Junior High School opened, the new Buccaneer Football Stadium was dedicated, and the Loutit Foundation donated funds for the construction of a new public library facility in Grand Haven. The new Ottawa County Courthouse was opened with a dedication ceremony in September, and Spring Lake Township held a dedication for their new Township Hall. The new M-104 bypass from US-31 through Spring Lake was opened to traffic. The Gardner Denver Strike is discussed in great detail.
