President Obama awards Medal of Honor for conspicuous gallantry to 24 Army veterans, 21 of them posthumously. The veterans are receiving the Medal of Honor in recognition of their valor during major combat operations in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War having been previously overlooked for the medal due to racial discrimination.
