Sexuality and salvation : protestant evangelical sex manuals from 1972 to 2002
Michigan State University Professor of Religious Studies Amy DeRogatis delivers a talk entitled "Sexuality and Salvation: Protestant Evangelical Sex Manuals from 1972 to 2002." DeRogatis describes how protestant male and female sexuality has changed over the past thirty years. She argues that sex manuals shape perceptions by determining what are "natural" sexual behaviors and scripturally sound desires. DeRogatis also says that the manuals give marital counseling on the limits and possibilities of sexual practices as expressions of faith and provides explicit examples of recommended practices. She answers questions from the audience. She is introduced by MSU Librarian Michael Lorenzen. Part of the Michigan Sate University Libraries' Colloquia Series. Held in the Main Library.
