Susan Applegate Krouse, Professor of Anthropology at Michigan State University, talks about the Ho-Chunk Memorial Day Powwow held at Black River Falls, Wisconsin each year. Krouse explains how the Ho-Chunk (Winnebago) community recognizes the warrior and acknowledges the sacrifices of warriors on behalf of their people. She describes Ho-Chunk history and culture, and the use of the Black River Powwow to honor Indian veterans. Krouse answers questions from the audience. Krouse is introduced by Kurt Dewhurst, Director of the Center for Great Lakes Culture. Part of the Michigan State Libraries' Colloquia series. Held in the Main Library.
