The year in review : 1963
This radio program includes excerpts from the original news stories that aired during the year. The program opens with a look at the year's weather with mention of a big snow storm. There were many local fires that year, including those which destroyed Central School in Grand Haven on January 28th, the Macatawa Bay Yacht Club on July 4th, the Fruitport Pavilion on February 4th, and one which claimed the lives of a Spring Lake family. One of the big stories of the year was the demise of the Dornbos Fishery, and on the national level, the assassination of President Kennedy. Several new buildings were built in the area: Consumers Power Company, Grand Rapids Water Filtration Plant, and Grand Valley State College. The Grand Haven Musical Fountain was also dedicated that summer.
