Lora Bex Lempert, professor emerita of Sociology and Women's and Gender Studies at the University of Michigan-Dearborn, delivers a talk entitled "Eating the life sentence elephant : one bite at a time." Lempert describes her research into how women, incarcerated for life in Michigan prisons, cope pragmatically and creatively with their sentences by constructing meaningful lives inside prison.
