Winners of various literary awards read their work at the Michigan Writer Series
The winners of the Jim Cash Creative Writing Awards are introduced and read their work. In the poetry category third place winner Marija Knežević reads her poem "I", second place winner Jennifer Gage reads three of her poems including "Strain", and first place winner Meg McClure has her winning poem "Water signs" read by Carrie Preston. In the fiction category, third place winner Amy Hymes reads "The silent intersections", second place winner Jake Posner reads "Timing the drips" and the master of ceremonies announces that Nathan Blom won first place for "Debris". The Glendon and Kathryn Swarthout Awards in Writing are also presented and the award winners read their work, including first place winner Carrie Preston who reads her winning poem "To the stomping ground". The Richard Benvenuto Prize for Poetry is presented to Josefina Diaz who reads three poems including her winning poem "Phalaenopsis" and the George B. Lawson Prize for best literary essay is presented to Matt Duke for his work "Heads up Seven Up" which he reads. The master of ceremonies is unidentified.
