U.S. President Ronald Reagan's formal statement after the freeing of the hostages from Lebanon
U.S. President Reagan delivers a formal statement on the release of thirty-nine American hostages kidnapped from TWA flight 847 and held in Lebanon. Reagan promises to pursue those who murdered the hostage and the marines in El Salvador, and to free the seven Americans still held hostage in Lebanon. He puts terrorists on notice that the United States will pursue them. He thanks the Syria, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Israel, and other nations in the Middle East and Europe for their help during the hostage crisis.
