A knowledge exchange model for scholarly publishing
Dr. John M. Willinsky, Pacific Press Professor of Literacy and Technology at the University of British Colombia, delivers a talk entitled, "A Knowledge Exchange Model for Scholarly Publishing" at the Michigan State University Main Library. Willinsky proposes a shift in control of the dissemination of research information to the research library as the basic unit of knowledge management. He says that embracing such a model will reduce costs while improving value and access to information in the "knowledge economy". He also says that it is a viable alternative to the privatization of knowledge. Willinsky answers questions from the audience. He is introduced by Michigan State University Professor David Solomon. The session is convened by MSU Librarian John Coffey. Part of the Michigan State University Libraries' Colloquia series.
