Theodore B. Olson, attorney for presidential candidate George W. Bush, opens oral arguments before the U.S. Supreme Court in the vote recount case Bush v. Gore. Olson suggests that the Florida Supreme Court was arbitrary in its decision about which votes should be recounted. Gore's attorney David Boies argues that Florida law is clear that where voter intent can be discerned the vote should be counted.
