Islia M. Brandell discusses her two years of service in the United States Marine Corps Women's Reserve. Brandell says that she enlisted in the Marines with her sister because the uniforms "looked sharp" and talks about working in the motor vehicle pool, seeing President Truman out strolling on V-J day, her life at the Quantico Marine base in Virginia, and enjoying weekends in Washington D.C.
