Last shift at Jansesville : when good jobs go away
Amy Goldstein, staff writer at The Washington Post, participates in a discussion entitled "Last shift at Jansesville: when good jobs go away." Using a question and answer format, Goldstein and Professor John P. Beck from the MSU School of Human Resources and Labor Relations, focus on some family's who were impacted by the closing of the General Motors plant in Janesville, Wisconsin, one of General Motor's oldest facilities. Goldstein says that her goal in writing her book, "Janesville: an American story," was to illustrate the impact of the closing on real people and what choices were made when there were no good choices left. Goldstein also reads a section from her book then answers questions from the audience.
