Western Michigan at work. 1949-03-30
In this installment of "Western Michigan at work," Dr. Willis Dunbar discusses the history and layout of the Watervliet Paper Company. Dunbar recalls that the first paper mill on the site was shut down because it was not profitable and that in 1910 a number of businessmen from Kalamazoo acquired the mill site and founded the Watervliet Paper Company. He also describes each step in the processes of making paper and interviews Watervliet employees Bob Carmody and Ida Hawks about their duties at the mill.
