Oral history interview with Eleanor Robinson, 2002 February 14
Eleanor Robinson recounts her service in the United States Naval Reserve (WAVES) during World War II. Robinson talks about her motivation to enlist and her family's reaction, remembering her family and friends were very supportive. She recalls her basic training and how they had to learn all the simple skills, rules, and regulations of the Navy. Robinson shares her experience working in Texas, including the time she arrived back late from leave and was punished, as well as her experiences with service men, claiming that they were very friendly. She describes her daily routine in Texas, saying that the shifts were 8 hours a day, with some weekends off and tells about being reunited with other WAVES after the war. Robinson is interviewed by Sarah McLennan.
