Doris Burmester Nathan describes her service in the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) during World War II. Nathan shares how she watched airplanes while growing up on a small ranch with many people. She recalls how she came to join the WASP organization and her families reaction to it. Nathan talks about the other women in the organization, her training experiences, and the attitude men had towards her, asserting that most did not care that she was a women. Nathan also discusses her uniform, socializing in the service, the time she almost ran out of fuel, when the WASP closed, and what her family thinks of her experience now that it is over. Nathan is interviewed by Kathryn Cavanaugh.
