What's doing in Western Michigan. 1949-05-08
In this installment of "What's doing in Western Michigan," Dr. Willis Dunbar reports on a variety of news stories from around the region. Dunbar addresses unusual temperature saying that it was so warm that sun rays set fire to a box of clothing in a local persons home, however temperatures quickly dropped and now they are expecting the first May frost in 30 years. The frost and temperatures, Dunbar warns, are damaging to local fruit trees and tulips that bloomed early due to the unusually warm April weather. Harry Travis reports on lighter news including a story of how an elderly man rides the train to Pierson from Grand Rapids once each month to cash his social security check despite the fact that the train isn't suppose to actually stop in Pierson.
