Interview of Michigan State University Associate General Counsel Theresa Kelley on the operation of faculty grievance procedures
Dr. Robert Banks, who previously served as the associate provost and associate vice president for Academic Human Resources at Michigan State University, interviews Associate General Counsel Theresa Kelley about her relationship with the operation of faculty grievance procedures at Michigan State University. Theresa discusses how her role has changed from primarily being a litigator to assisting unit administrators in responding to grievances. She shares her concern about an instance where a unit administrator engaged their own outside attorneys to represent them in a grievance, the awkward situation that put the administration in, and how her office handled it. They discuss how many judgements get successfully appealed and current efforts to compare grievances with other Big Ten institutions.
