Cross of Gold speech
Bryan originally gave this speech advocating bimetallism to the Democratic National Convention in Chicago on July 9, 1896. The Democratic Party wanted to standardize the value of the dollar to silver rather than to gold. In 1921, Bryan recorded portions of that speech for Gennett Records in Richmond, Indiana.
