Beal presented the following preamble and resolution, from Capitol Grange, No. 540, which on motion of Bro. Simpson, were ordered spread upon the minutes: WHEREAS, We believe that the resignation of Bro. Prof. C. L. Ingersoll, of the Agricultural College, is largely due to the failure of the last Legislature to make all the necessary appropriations-although the State Board of Agriculture is not wholly blameless to enable him to continue such experiments as would be satisfactory to the farmers of our State, and to his success as a professor of agriculture; and his sense of honor would not allow him to continue in a position thus restricted in means, and embarrassed by the carping criticisms of some members of the Legislature who are hostile to the farmers' only institution; therefore, Resolved, That we feel slighted, as a class, by this short-sighted policy of our Legislature, and deeply regret that we are deprived of the services of such an able professor, and that we earnestly recommend that the farmers of our State take such action to bring this subject before the people, that the next Legislature will not leave our College again crippled for want of means to do the farmers justice. Bro. C. V. Babcock a resolution relative to woman sufrage in State and National Grange. Referred to Committee on Instructions to Representatives to National Grange.
