TOP DRESSING GRASS. Prof. Beal, of the
Michigan Agricultural College, gives the following results of top dressing grass land, performed some years ago at that college. Such
experiments are worth repenting, and will
doubtless give varying amounts of increase,
with soils, seasons and other influences. Soil
sandy loam, not in a high state of cultivation, nor very strong land:

2 bushels plaster to the acre caused a
gain of hay of ..... 64 per ct.
5 bushels of ashes .... 38 per ct.
20 loads fine muck ...... 51 per ct.
20 loads fine muck, 2 to 3 bushels salt ... 81 per ct.
3 bushels salt ... 90 per ct.
20 loads horse manure ... 117 per ct.
20 loads cow manure ... 97 per ct.
