Covid Erotic Guide
A comic done with black sharpie on a white background, divided into four sections. All of the text within the piece is in capital letters. At the top center of the piece are the outlined words "covid" and beneath that "2020". Underneath the words is a thin line and in standard lettering "an erotic guide". The first: two people stand side by side, touching elbows. The person to the left has long hair pulled in a ponytail and is facing the person to the right, who has shorter curly hair. Hearts float in between the two, and underneath them reads "bumping uglies". The second: two people lying on pillows and looking at each other, naked, with distance between them. The person to the left has short hair and a penis. The person to the right has shoulder length hair, bangs, breasts, and a vagina. Underneath, the words "11: the new 69 69". The third: a person with long hair blowing a kiss to a person with a mullet outside of a window. The air kiss is traced with dotted lines where it bounces off of the window, into a heart. Underneath, the words "blow jobs". The fourth: a laptop. On the screen a person with short hair has three hands touching their face. Beneath the laptop is the word "porn".

As the COVID-19 pandemic forced people into isolation, I found myself struggling to cope. In an effort to find some humor during these dark times, I created "Covid Erotic Guide" in the early weeks of the US shutdown when uncertainty was high and the future seemed bleak. As a single woman, I was contemplating how to navigate dating during a pandemic. This illustration was a reflection of that struggle, and my attempt to find some levity in the situation. --Label design by exhibit curator Nancy DeJoy.
