Pandemic
A photograph of a child holding a globe against a shadowy backdrop. The child has dark skin, short dark hair, and dark eyes that are wide with fear. They are wearing a blue face mask. The visible side of the globe is the south american continent and the atlantic ocean. Four dark-skinned hands on either side of the child reach out for them from the shadows.

Photography is my passion, so I wanted to do something related to the pandemic. This piece is a tribute to all those around the world who have lost their lives because of the deadly virus. By using a globe as a prop where the child's emotions have been captured, it shows how scared the child is because of the pandemic. The hands from both sides indicate the COVID-19 virus which we are still dealing with. --Label design by exhibit curator Nancy DeJoy. Labels written by Ben Lash and his team in consultation with artist statements.
